biography

TV Presenter and Broadcast Journalist Jean Johansson is a gorgeous Glaswegian who is currently lighting up our screens as the new Presenter on flagship Channel 4 show A PLACE IN THE SUN. As well as her role as regular reporter for THE ONE SHOW and Presenter on hugely popular BBC daytime programme ANIMAL PARK, 2020 is sure to be a bumper year for Jean as she co-presents new CHANNEL 5 Consumer series ARE THEY A CON? alongside journalist Paul Connolly. Proving she can handle more serious topics, Jean has just finished a series of films for Sport Relief tackling Postpartum Depression and children with Spina Bifida which she covered with compassion and understanding, relating to people and making them feel at ease is her biggest asset. She’s well on her way to becoming a household name after she made an impression  on CELEBRITY MASTERCHEF back in 2018, where she cooked up a storm and wowed the judges on the much loved cooking competition, leading to a stint on ITV’s THIS MORNING where she road tested the latest kitchen gadgets. This year is off to a flying start with a glossy spread in a Fabulous Sunday Magazine and a Summer Special of Animal Park lined up, it’s no wonder METRO Newspaper has called her ‘The rising star of Daytime TV’. Jean is also enjoying writing her weekly column ‘Jean’s Scene’ for Scotland’s biggest selling weekend newspaper THE SUNDAY MAIL, which has a circulation of 200,000.

The Kenyan born Scot burst onto our screens after winning a nationwide search for a presenter which led to a long and successful career in Children’s TV, notching up ten years of experience on live and pre recorded shows for CBBC and THE DISNEY CHANNEL. Jean describes these as some of the best years of her life, allowing her to master interviewing and develop her live presenting skills. Highlights from this time include flying to Los Angeles to go ‘behind the scenes’ on many of Disney’s big animations and hosting the BAFTA Award winning DISNEY CHANNEL AWARDS from London Arena.

Jean represented the ‘Scotland Vote’ on ITV’s RECORD OF THE YEAR in 2003-2005 and was the face of THE NATIONAL LOTTERY DAILY PLAY draw on CHALLENGE TV. She also presented the EUROMILLIONS draw for Camelot, which allowed her to make the transition from kids to more mainstream television.

During her University years Broadcast Journalism was her passion, whilst completing her Post Graduate Diploma, she headed up the newsroom of her University radio station and thrived as both reporter and editor of daily, hourly bulletins. Alongside studying, Jean presented the STV weather bulletins, which proved to be the perfect mix of factual reporting and presenting. Training with The Met Office gave her the skills to research, design graphics and manage her own broadcast within the newsroom. With her bubbly attitude and unique sense of style, it wasn’t long before Jean became a hit as a ‘Weather Girl’, and a popular member of the news team.

Jean serves as a  Brand Ambassador for THE PEOPLE’S POST CODE LOTTERY, which gave her the weekly task of knocking on the doors of unsuspecting winners to award them with a 30,000 pound prize. This was supported by a countrywide billboard, TV, radio and print campaign, which makes Jean one of the most recognisable faces in Scotland.

Away from work, she’s a self-confessed bookworm, movie geek and musical theatre enthusiast. She has successfully bought, developed and sold several properties and is something of a football expert, having been with her husband, professional football player turned Manager Jonatan Johansson. Her other obsession is her nine year old son Jonathan who they nickname “Junior”!
